1998.
The breakthrough radio hit "My Special Angel"
made Singapore history by knocking international songbird Toni
Braxton off the No.1 spot and stayed on top of the charts for
two weeks. It was also the No. 7 song on the Top 100 charts on
FM 98.7.
Ger, otherwise known as Geraldine Ho, is the
only local solo artiste to make it to the top and, the fourth
local act to ever scale the peaks of the Perfect Ten charts, and
surprisingly without hype or hoopla.
Ger's self-penned songs are inspired by her own
experiences and from things she hears from her buddies. She wrote
her first song at 16 as a birthday present to a friend, because
she wanted the gift to be meaningful and lasting.
An ex-Singapore National Hockey player,
Ger says "Many people tell me sports and music don't mix.
I love both and i'm not giving either one up."
With her undying passion to pursue her dream,
Ger finally releases her debut full album, "On My Own",
this year (2003).
